The LAND ID Creators Guide

NFT is a hot market, however, is it possible to create NFTs out of everything? There is an obvious answer to that… The Non-Fungible Tokens are new, so to last in time, they have to respect the laws of each and every country regarding image copyrights. Fortunately, creators of LAND IDs can follow those simple rules to check if a place is or not under a copyright law. Here is the ultimate guide to read before submitting a LAND ID to Etherland’s marketplace.

Etherland’s applications to Real Estate applies a strict process of verification and moderation in order to check that the LAND ID submitted do respect copyright and trademark laws.

What place can I register on the World Metaverse?

There are two type of registration: as the actual owner or not.

Obtaining a verified status as the actual owner:

If you wish to register a residential home or a business and receive the “verified” status on your LAND ID, you need to be the owner of the physical real estate you want to represent in the Etherland’s Metaverse. More information to identify you as the real owner will be demanded such as a complete KYC and a picture of the certificate of ownership (see requirements below). As an optional layer of security, the Etherland mobile app can be used to “drop” the LAND ID on location. You will have to go on site and catch it, hence verifying your location. Only the real owner will be able to catch and receive the LAND ID.

For the actual owner of the place in the physical world, prepare three documents prior to registering:

  • Your Passport or ID card.
  • A Utility Bill.
  • Your Certified proof of ownership.

If you are not the owner of a real estate in the real world, you can always register a place from the public domain on the Metaverse:

You can register any public place such a landmark, a natural wonder, a park, an arena or any public infrastructure such as a city hall as long as there are no copyrights and trademark on the chosen location.

Here are a few location examples that could create some troubles due to copyrights infringement:

  • The Empire State Building
  • The Hollywood Sign
  • The Eiffel Tower (at night)
  • The Golden Gate Bridge
  • The London Eye
  • Stonehenge
  • The Louvre Museum
  • Sydney Opera House

So how do you know that one or another location is copyrighted or under the law of a trademark?

1st thing simple thing to do is to Google it!

You may find the information about the copyrights with a quick Google search and basic keyword with Copyright + Trademark and the name of the place you wish to create an NFT.

2nd, you may check on these two sites if the landmark sought is affected by a known and listed copyright:

https://helpx.adobe.com/in/stock/contributor/user-guide.html/in/stock/contributor/help/known-image-restrictions.ug.html

https://wiki.gettyimages.com/

3rd, check on Etherland’s list if the place has not been tokenized already (on the marketplace) or if the place is on the black list of places that we have checked already.

If not found on the sites, search manually on a case-by-case basis and in case of doubt you may always send us an email at info@etherland.world for our moderators to give you a feedback on the location you wish to digitalize.

How to register a location on the Blockchain with Etherland ?

Complete the registration form and enter all the required information about the location you want to tokenize.

  • Start by entering a valid e-mail where you will receive the respond regarding if your application has been approved or not.

Every entry is reviewed so each LAND ID is up to par with the standards, that there is no duplicate of a location and that there are no copyrights infringements.

  • Select in the form the appropriate category for the place, being a landmark, an agricultural land, a commercial or residential building, etc. as well as its subcategories.

Those categories will help creating its unique real estate identification code. For example, the code of the Versailles Castle is FR.L.M.V.1 meaning France, Landmark, Monument, Versailles and 1, being the first registered in this category.

  • Upload your photos and videos of the location and write a description of the place.
  • You will now have to enter information such as the location, GPS coordinates, land surface, floor surface, number of rooms and bathrooms if applicable.

If you don’t have some of the information or the complete description, don’t worry. You will be able to update your Estatepedia page later using the same form.

All the newly created LAND ID will have their own page on the Estatepedia, containing the information you provided, and will have a tailor-made visual created for the location just like the already registered collections of Etherland NFTs!

This is the list of the information you need before hand:

  • A working email address
  • Your ETH address using an ERC721 token compatible wallet
  • Being able to identify the category where the place belongs (ex: Agricultural land, residence, commerce, etc.)
  • The name of the location
  • A short summary (40 to 80 words)
  • A detailed description (400 to 800 words) (Optional)
  • A banner picture
  • Gallery pictures (minimum of 4)(Optional)
  • A video of the location (Optional)
  • The country where the location is in
  • The city of the location
  • The GPS coordinates via Google Maps
  • Various characteristics such as the land surface, the floor surface, the numbers of floors, the numbers of rooms, numbers of bathrooms (Optional)

If you want to register a property as the owner and receive the “Verified” status you need to provide the following:

  • Recto-verso pictures of an official ID (National ID card or Passport)
  • A picture of a utility bill with your name and address
  • A picture of the certificate of ownership in your name
  • The address of your property
  • The Energy Performance Certificate (EER & EIR)(Optional)

To celebrate the launch of the registry, the first 50 eligible LAND IDs will be created and distributed for free! Do you already have a place in mind, or do you want to register your own house? Go to the Etherland website and register a location now!
